Colour Capping

Look out for this awesome technique in 2026, it normally involves using a range of similar shades in your room - from ceilings, windows, doors frames/skirting boards and cornices. To achieve this tonal, layered look pair lighter walls with dark ceilings using the darkest or most saturated hue on the ceiling to 'cap' the space. This technique creates a cohesive, layered 'cocoon' effect that can make a room feel taller or more intimate depending on the shades used.

You can always mix it up and flip the order or materials the shades are used on, it's all about your personal style and maintaining a smooth tonal gradient - transitioning gradually from light to dark or vice versa. I love it!
